came from New Liberty, Ky. in 1825 to New Bethel, Ind. He cleared a plot of
ground, put in a crop and with the aid of his son, Harrison, built a log
cabin. He then went back to Ky. to get his family. They had been in Ind.
a short time when Reuben and his son needed to go to a mill north of their
home. As they travelled through the woods, they cut trees so they could
find their way back home. Reuben was very warm, and it started raining.
He went quite a distance in his wet clothes, caught a cold and died within
6 months. His was the first internment at the cemetary in New Bethel, Ind.

In the graveyard at New Bethel the first internment was that of Reuben Adams, on whose land the buriel-place was laid out. It was at first a plat of about one acre, which has since been increased to about two acres. The ground is now nearly filled with graves, and contains some handsome monuments,
