Fargo Family - Ourfolk

I have a correction to the Fargo information at your website. Deacon Robert Fargo (Jr.), his wife Prudence (nee Stanton), Stanton Fargo (son of the preceding couple), and Fanny Fargo (nee Comstock) are buried NOT in Colchester, but in Montville. Perhaps the original confusion arose; as, the burial ground is a bit off of Old Colchester Rd. The inventory I found for this burial ground at the Raymond Library, in Montville, calls it the 'Congdon-Street Cemetery.' Rev. Reuben Palmer is buried here. The location of the Palmer Ch. is not known. However; it is suggested that this burial ground may well have been the churchyard for that church. Many of the burials are for members of the congregation. The Fargo homestead, if the History of Montville (Baker) is to be believed, must have been in this vicinity, as well. The cemetery is at the back of a small, well-kept mobile home park; and, it is now on the edge of a new development of homes. The stone wall is often topped with enormous slabs of granite, likely requiring several hands and backs for placement. Deacon Robt's stone may be the oldest in the place. It is the only one I saw that had a winged angel/soul figure in the top arch. The rest mostly bore the weeping willow motif. All four Fargo burials have head and foot stones. The older two, alas, are difficult to read, these days. I have the text of the inscriptions somewhere.
