STERLING - Lloyd A. Marker, 82, died Aug. 4 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. He was born Feb. 7, 1920, at Drumright, Okla., the son of Elva and Dessie Landes Marker. He married Sylvia Van Norman on Oct. 30, 1937, at Lyons. A resident of Sterling for 63 years, he was an oil field driller for 25 years, operator of Sterling Power Plant for 17 years and was employed as power plant operator for the Hutchinson Reformatory for four years.
Marker was a former charter president for Mid-K Campers. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Bob A. Marker of Hutchinson and Larry E. Marker of Wilson; three sisters, Alberta Mowery of Nickerson, Ruth Ogden of Great Bend and Lorene Bush of Buckner, Mo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Marker, Cleo Marker and Ralph Marker.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sillin Funeral Home in Sterling with Jerry Fenwick officiating. Burial will be at Sterling Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-7 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hutchinson Hospital Cancer Fund, in care of the funeral home.
