Albert: From FInd a Grave
William Henry Douglass visited his grave in Canada during his trip in 1874.
Albert's birth date is calculated from information on his tombstone which provided his date of death and his age at the time of death. Also, Albert is identified on this stone as the son of W. and S.M. Douglass. Sources on the Internet suggest that his parents were William and Sarah Maria (Jones) Douglass. NOTE: The tombstone memorializing Albert Potter Douglas(s) had been dragged from its original location years before the transcription by the Ontario Genealogical Society of the Stone Church Cemetery and deposited with a number of other tombstones along the fence row at the edge of the cemetery. A cemetery plot plan for the Stone Church Cemetery shows Albert's original burial location in Plot K5-Grave 1. This plot is shared with a Mr. Goman and a husband and wife with the last name of McTaggart. In a cemetery transcription from 1983, the stone is simply identified as Fence 9. For some reason, the 1983 transcription spells Albert's surname as Douglass.
Sources suggest that Albert Potter Douglas had a number of siblings, including William Henry (1853-1923); Emma (1853- ); Edwin Franklin (1860-1918); Alfred (1867-1870); Orville Albert (1870-1890) and Asa William (1872-1872).
