BURLINGTON Mrs. Mary Ann Vonachen Farrell, 73, of 2512 Hickory Ave., died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at The Hospice Home.
A native of Peoria, Ill., she was the wife of Mr. Thomas E. Farrell, who survives, and the daughter of Dr. Harold Vonachen and Mrs. Bernice Verner Vonachen, both deceased. She operated a gift shop called The Yellow Brick Road. She was a member of Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church, and was a contributor to the renovations of Hillcrest School Building in prleparation for a new Blessed
Sacrament Catholic School. She was a graduate of St. Theresa College in Winona, Minn., and was a sponsor of the Burlington Indians
baseball team.
Survivors other than her husband of the home, include two sons, Mr. Tim Farrell of Burlington and Mr. David Farrell of Chapel Hill; two
sisters, Mrs. Marta Templin of Peoria, and Mrs. Susie Dawson of Decatur, Ill.; two brothers, Mr. Harold Pete Vonachen of Peoria and
Mr. Tommy Vonachen of Delevan, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miss Annie Farrell; a brother, Mr. Jack Vonachen; and one sister, Mrs. Barbara Bobbie Hecht.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by the Rev. Briant Cullinane, O.F.M. conv. pastor.
Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery at Elon College.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6 to 8 tonight, followed by a Catholic Prayer service at 8 p.m. in the funeral
home chapel.
A special hometown memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Holy Family Church in Peoria, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic School Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 619, Burlington, N.C. 27216.
