Was president of the First National Bank of Decatur, Indiana from 1883 to 1893. He was a leading physician of Decatur and served on the board of the bank for years. The active management of the bank was in the hands of
his son-in-law Charles A. Dugan for over 25 years.

Dr. Dorwin offered to furnish a banking room and vault for $290.00 per annum
with a five year lease and 15 year option. The bank was to pay for the vault door and relocating the front door.
The bank accepted the offer, and then bought a safe for $830.00
