This Caleb (II) is the earliest Record of the name Kimball in Wells, ME. He came to Wells c.1700 and lived in that part of town known as Kennebunk. In 1710 he sold some land in Wells, and in 1716 he sold some land on the Ogunquid River. He bought 1/4 of Kennebunk Falls from Samuel Littlefield in 1732. He evidently returned to Ipswwich. MA as is shown by the following deed:
The Deed was witnessed by Nathaniel Treadwell and Samuel Waite.(1)
Caleb is believed to be a descendant of, who sailed from
England in 1534.
'Richard and, brothers, sailed from England April 10, 1634
in the ship 'Elizabeth' and landed in Boston. They both went to, and
settled in Watertown, Mass. Richard removed to Ipswich, Mass in 1637.
He died there in 1675. Al the Kimballs in the United States are believed
to be descended from these two brothers' - 'Recollections of a Busy Life'

- 'Caleb Kimball of Ipswich, yeoman, sold to Samuel Hovey of Rowley, carpenter, for L30 on 12 Nov 1735 'One Certain full Right' in the Township Number bordering on Saco River in the province abovesaid being One of these Townships that was granted by the General Court as a Gratuity to the Naragansett Soldiers as is Bounded as by the Committee Return that Laand out of the Same on Record may appear Reference thereunto being had Which said Naragansett Right Derived to me by virtue of my being Eldest Son of my Hond. Father Caleb Kimball late of said Ipswich Decd. Who was actually a Soldier in the Naaragansett Wars...'
