but a number
Over the past month, Byng, 85, has re-established himself as
one of the best senior table tennis players in the country and in
the world.
The table tennis event, which featured 11-point, best-of-5
games, finished up this past Thursday.
Forsberg has taken his talents to the road, winning the men s
singles, men s doubles and mixed doubles for his age group (85-89)
at three different Senior Games this fall most recently, the
Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah.

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and 80-year-old Lodian - Byng Forsberg played their celebrated pingpong match in Stockton on Thursday, but what had been conceived as an event to raise awareness for cancer research had to end in a private game played at Stockton Metropolitan Airport.
Blame a tight campaign schedule and demands by scores of television stations to cover the event, some from as far away as Japan. Schwarzenegger officials said they wanted to avoid what they suspected would have become an international media circus.
So they closed the game to the media, although spokeswoman Julie Soderlund did relay the events to The Record, which had a hand in setting up the match.
According to Soderlund and Forsberg, they played at the airport for about a half-hour, mostly rallying back and forth. They didn t keep score.
Earlier this month the Lodi resident headed to Venezuela, where
he not only got to play table tennis with ambassadors from
Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Cuba as well as an admiral of
the Venezuelan Navy, but also got a chance to chat with the
President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa.
While Forsberg said he just played the ambassadors for fun, he
said they had a bit more experience at the game than the Governor.
But not enough to keep up with Forsberg.
'We had a good time,' Forsberg said. 'I kinda took it easy on
them, like I did with Arnold.
The pingpong evening even included karaoke. Forsberg said he's
not much of a singer, but when the ambassadors turned on 'New York,
New York' and asked him to take the microphone, he obliged.
'Frank Sinatra turned over in his grave when he heard that one,'
he said.<
Forsberg has many connections with Venezuela. He taught many
Venezuelans while instructing a table tennis class at University of
the Pacific in the 1970s. He also has many acquaintances who live
in the South American country, which he said he's visited half a
dozen times.
