Hello! I'm doing research on John EALES, the original colonist, and father of the famous Samuel. Your information on John's DOB as 1620 is completely false. I just received a paper copy of the Newbury town records, and it states that John 'the bee-hive-maker' was over 70 years old, in 1645. By my accounts he was as old as 78 when he died, in 1653, depending on who has the correct DOB. But, if you send to Newbury for his record, you will know, and print, that John was over 70, in 1645. Another thing that bothers me is that noone has any records on John, Jr. beyond being a cow-keeper in Dorchester. There were also 2 sisters, never mentioned, and a brother, William. I've searched every MA town, and there are no records for anyone but Samuel. Yet, Canadian Genealogists say John EALES-EELLS, mentioned above, is 'The Progenitor of all Nova Scotia ELLS'--the next revision of the name. Joshua EELLS-ELLS, the first one from CT to NS, was the son of Thomas EELLS, who WAS NOT born, in Milton, MA, as some people claim. He died there! All attempts by myself, and others, to link Thomas EELLS, somehow to John, SR. have come up empty. The stated facts that John, SR returned to England, and died there, in 1666, can't be true--you & I know he died in Newbury, in 1653! How could he live in Hingham & Newbury, and be living in England, too? So, as of last week, the other ELLS, and I think maybe John, Jr.--the cow-keeper-- went back to England, and it is he who died there in 1666. Still--who is Thomas EELLS' father? Some, on line, claim it's Samuel, but we know otherwise. Have you ever run across John, Jr. or Thomas in searches of Devon, England? IF ever you run across the birth or info on Thomas EELLS, b. 1675-84, in MA or England, PLEASE let me know where! THANKS! Cindy
