When I met with Bill in 2008, he was spry and told stories about his family, John Dillinger, etc. He tells of the time he took his dad to visit the Dillinger Museum. His dad was dissapointed and said 'It just goes to show how much the media can get things wrong.' He also said 'Grandpa Taylor did make moonshine - some of the best in the County.'(Al Hart Jr.)

I just stumbled across your lovely site. Just to add on Kathleen Eual Cheek married Paul E. Scott in Jackson Co Indiana in 1953. Paul died in a farming accident in October 1980.

Kathleen remarried in 1984 to Winfred L. Cornett in Freetown, IN. She passed away January 4, 2001 due to a sudden stroke. Winfred died on September 1, 2010. Both are buried in the Freetown Christian Church Cemetery.

Patty Scott married Lowell J. Cooper and lives in Marion Ohio with their two children Amanda Kathleen and Jonathan Patrick. Amanda is engaged to be married on April 9, 2011 to Caleb Tolliver in Salem, IN.

Billy Eugene Cheek passed away in December 2010 and is buried at the Houston Cemetery, in northern Jackson County near his parents Henry and Minnie. Billy and Beverly were divorced for many years and he remarried Violet Ayers and they had one daughter Billie Tollivia who lives in Seymour, IN.

Emmanuel Irvin Cheek, Minnie and Henry's younger son died in 2008. He married Rose Eversole and they had two sons Jeffery Emmanuel and Lewis Irvin. Manuel and Rose divorced and Manuel remarried two more times. Lewis and His wife Stephanie live in Seymour and have two grown daughters and six grandchildren.

I live in Seymour with my cat 'Gracie'. An 'Old Maid' as Aunt Rosie Rush once called me. I work at Holiday Inn Express and conduct a personal speaking ministry called A Lily of His Field.

Billy Cheek, 78, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 12:37 PM, Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at his residence.

He was a member of the Seymour Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family. He was a US Army veteran.

Born July 26, 1932 in Brown County, Indiana, he was a son of Henry & Minnie (Taylor) Cheek. On October 5, 1973 he married Violet Wyant and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Valerie Phippen, Son: Tim Cheek: Daughter: Billie Morris; Stepson: Robby Ayers; Stepdaughter: Laura Sutton; Stepdaughter: Rhonda Wilson; Stepson: Jeff Ayers; Stepson: Roger Ayers
1 sister: Dora Mae Goforth

Also, 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren survive

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, 1 sister (Kathleen Cornett) and 1 son (Daniel Cheek)
