S1 Spooner Family of THOMAS the author of the Genealogy
From some cause, Seth and his first wife did not have a happy mariage, It is certain that his wife was an estimable woman, but want of congeniality either in temperament or dosposition, led to a permanent separation.
Seth was a man of a roving and unsettled disposition, and his views and opinions were as unstable as his habits. He was industrious and perservering, but easily discourage, and with him it was preferable to fly from misfortune than to combat and conquer it.

Charles was born on his fathers farm in Monroe County, NY State, and lived at home until his 17th year when he started into the world to build for himself a home and a character. He worked as a farm hand for some years, then learned the trade of wagon maker, which he followed until 1844, in Monroe County NY, when he lost by fire, his whole property, the product of 20 years of toil. Soon after this loss he emigrated to Lorain County Ohio where by industry and prudence he soon was able to purchase a farm, and from this time on was a farmer.
In NY Mr. Spooner was a captain in the state militia, in Ohio, often held the office of school trustee and other trusts, he was influential in politics, and as an old WHIG, and as a Republican, he was frequently a delegate to state conventions
In 1865 Mr. Spooner moved to Adrian Michigan where in 1865 he is still living in a green old age, in the enjoyment of the gatherings of a life of industry and frugality.
