Ruth M. De Neff, age 94, of Holland, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at an area care center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wil liam De Neff in 1976.
After graduating from the Butterworth School of Nursing, Ruth worked as a Registered Nurse at Hol land Hospital and then the Ottawa County Health De partment, where she was instrumental in developing the Visiting Nurses Associ ation, now known as Home Health. Ruth was an active member of the VFW Wom en s Auxiliary, and enjoyed golfing, travel and Tiger s baseball. Her love for her five great-granddaughters was evident in everything she did, and she is remem bered by them as the great est root beer float maker!
She is survived by her children, James De Neff of Midvale, Utah, Jan and Tom Moes of Hol land; grandchildren, Amy De Neff, Julie and Doug Smith, Lisa Moes-Phillips, Ryan and Karen Moes; great-grandchildren, Ellery Smith, Megan Smith, Claire Smith, Taylor Moes, Saige Moes.
A private family service will be held later this sum mer with burial of her ashes in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. The family is being served by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland.
