You note that Melisende married Warin de Mortagne. Kathleen Thompson, in her book ' Power and Border Lordship in Medieval France - County of the Perche' strongly suggests that Melisende married Rotrou de Nogent (935-987), and was the brother of Hugh II of Ch teaudun. Warin's wife appears to be 'unknown'. I also suggest that Warin should be classed as 'de Domfront' (60 Km. to the North-West of Alen on). The Mortagne group is part of the Chateaudun Branch. Geoffrey I should be classed as 'de Chateaudun', as he was in direct line from Hugh I. He became Count of Mortagne after he married Elensie, who was the daughter of Foulques, Count of Mortagne. The link between the Chateaudun side of the family and the Alen on side took place when Rotrou I de Chateaudun married Adelaide, the daughter of Warin. That is when the family became so powerful that they helped William to conquer England and were rewarded with 'Much Land' and marriage to several royal sons and daughters.
