Isabel:
Isabel de Bolebec was born probably by 1168, as her father Hugh died circa 1165. (circa means about, and historians of this period would mean within a year or two either side of that date. If she was born posthumously, she could have been born in 1168. She gave birth to her son Hugh in 1208-1210, so she was probably born later rather than earlier.) She was co-heiress of her niece, another Isabel de Bolebec.

Hugh was born (as above) 1208-10. His parents had married in 1207, and Isabel was nearly at the end of her childbearing years. His birthplace is anyone's guess. Since his uncle earl Aubrey (IV) was still alive, they may have been living on one of Isabel's properties when he was born.

-- Robert --
became heir to his brother, Aubrey de Vere, who
died without issue before September of 1214, and who was reputed to be one of the 'evil
councillors' of King John. Although he was hereditary lord great Chamberlain of the kingdom,
Robert pursued a different course in politics from that of his brother, and became one of the
principal Barons in arms against King John, a party to that covenant which resigned the custody of
the City and Tower of London to the Barons, and one of those excommunicated by the Pope. In
the beginning of the reign of King Henry III, after he had made his peace with that young monarch
following the Battle of Lincoln, Robert was received into his favor, and was appointed one of the
judges inthe Court of King's Bench, but he died only a few months afterward,
and was buried in the Priory of Hatfield, Broad Oak, in Essex.
