Hi Again My email didn't bounce, so I am assuming that I have reached you. I have been interested in tracing my family tree for about 4 years and I have found my Hart ancestors one of my most challenging families to trace. Here is how I am related to the Harts in Ontario and some of the information I have found on them. I realize that they might not be connected to your Hart family, but I'm hoping that perhaps you might know of another Hart researcher who might be able to help me. Hastings County is in southern Ontario - near the Bay of Quinte - off of Lake Ontario. The area was first settled by Loyalists who came to the area in the late 1770's and by the Irish who started to arrive in the 1820's. Here is my connection to the Harts in Hastings County Glenda Brown (nee Emerson) Paternal grandmother - Blanche Collins - Emerson Parents Of Blanche Collins Lester Andrew Phillips (1830 - 1915) and Deborah Hart - 1835 - 1907) The Phillips were Loyalists and I can trace them quite well. Parents of Deborah Hart - Phillips were Lester and Deborah Phillips emigrated to Michigan in the 1880's with all of their children - except my gg grandmother - Nancy Jane Phillips - Collins. The Phillips are buried in Rosebush, Michigan. Orlean Hart and Nancy Reed. Again, the Reeds were Loyalists. Nancy Reed-Hart is buried in Hastings County Died - Sept 18, 1876 Aged 69 years, 4 m's, 3 days Orlean Hart - is also buried locally Died - Sept 20, 1877 Aged 71 years Orlean received a Land Grant in Tyendinaga Township,Hastings County in 1834. His birthplace was the US. From an online source outlining some of the early settlers of Iroquois County, Illinois - I found a biography on a Chester L. Hart - who was born in Vermont in 1838 and moved to Tyendinaga in 1843 with his parents John Hart and Margaret Spears Hart. (John and Margaret are buried in Tyendinaga Township, Hastings County) John Hart - Died 1863 - age 54 years Margaret - wife of John Hart - Died 1861 - AGe 49 years According to the biography Chester Hart came to Illinois in 1869 with his wife Mary Jane (nee Ruttan). Ruttans were Loyalists. The name Orlean ws used extensively throught this Hart family. Orlean Sr. had a son Orlean who ws Deborah Hart - Phillips brother and John Hart also had a son Orlean. Deborah Hart - Phillips also named a son Orlean Phillips. Since there is an Orlean County in Vermont - I have wondered if my Harts might have lived there before coming to Canada. Orlean Hart - brother of Deborah married a Nancy Vandervoort from Hastings County - daughter of John and Melissa (nee Bradshaw) Vandervoort. Orlean and Nancy emigrated to Iroquois Ill (they were there in the 1880 US Census) I have found (perhaps in your tree) Canadian Vandervoorts in Peroria, Co. Ill. Do you think that there might be some connections here? Other names given to John and Orlean Hart Sr children were: Elizabeth, Abigail Jane, Phoebe, Margaret Jane, Samuel,John, Susannah and Emily. The Harts listed their ethinic origin on Canadian Census as German. Any thoughts on my Hart family would be appreciated. Bye for nowGlenda Brown
