Jacent sailed from Lyons, France to Sydney, Wales about 1662 with his wife and family. Emigrated from Wales to America in 1668 on a vessel called 'Armenia' and landed in what is now Norwich, CT. where they soon came into possession of a tract of land. They were men of energy, thrift and foresight, and in consequence amassed wealth and secured themselves an extensive influence in business and social circles.
Moses was granted a house in New London, CT. in 1680. In 1690, he was in Norwich and in 1694 was granted land 'on a hill above the rock where the house stands'. In 1722 he appears among the inhabitants of the North Parish of New London in what is now Montville, CT.

Moses Fergoes requests a small parcel of land to build a house ? and shop and a small herbe garden on that ground that lies near the mill bridge over against the upper end of Mr Pyrams lot, which is granted on condition that he build on the same and reside thereon five or six years....
Both Angeline Fargo, who married Smith Bibbins, and
William George Fargo who founded Wells, Fargo are descended from Jacent
through his son Moses Fargo.
