Notes From the Obituary and Funeral notices of their son Edwin P. Rake, it appears that perhaps Sarah died and Aaron H. Rake re-married.

enlisted in the Union Army on August 1, 1861 in New Jersey at the age of 17. He was with Company B, 1st New Jersey Cavalry, and was enlisted and later discharged with the Rank of Private. Also located was his 'Civil War Pension Form' which show that he was an invalid which was dated February 9, 1879.

In the 1900 census West Raritan Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey page 274, Aaron (age 56) is recorded with his wife Nellie (age 33), Izer (age 22), Russell (age 13), Walter (age 11), Helen (age 7), Grace (age 5), Howard (age 3) and John (age 20). Aaron has been married to Nellie for 5 years and have had 3 children.
In the 1910 census West Raritan Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey page 271, Aaron (age 66) is recorded with his wife Nellie (age 42), Helen (age 16), Grace (age 14), Howard (age 12). Aaron has been married to Nellie for 15 years and have had 3 children.
