John BEATON, one of the wealthy citizens of Concord, Mass., brought from
Scotland, his niece, Mrs. Ann FLATT, a daughter of his brother James BEATON,
with her children to reside in Boston where they remained until he was
declared, when he took them into his own home.

By his will which was written June 25, 1776, Mrs. Flatt and each of her
children as to receive 80 pounds in money. After his discase, the Flatts
were obliged to leave that house, and some of them went tolive
at the farm of James MELVIN. It is said that this farm was three
miles away from the village and that Mr. Beaton's silver was buried
on it when English soldiers were nigh at hand.


Ann died on 24 JAN 1830 in Concord, Mass.
