Daughter - Cynthia was born on 11 MAR 1956
Mom died peacefully at Amador Residential Care in Jackson, California in the midst of her family. Family was her deepest treasure. She was born to Italian immigrants, Virgilio and Dina Angeli, in Oakland, California, where she resided until moving to Jackson in 1971.
Norma met George W. Slater, Jr. during high school and they married in 1948 after his discharge from the navy. She was devoted to her husband Jimfor their 54 years of marriage until his passing in 2002.
She was the best Mom to Mike Slater, Sue Carle, and Cindy Forsberg; Mother in Law to Margie Chisholm, Dennis Forsberg, and the late Tom Carle; Loving Nana to Jillian Ewalt (Mark), Elisse Slater, Dane Forsberg (Erin), Kirsten Hart (Dustin), and Kelsey Forsberg.
She had five great-grandchildren, Matt Scheafer, Ellie Scheafer, Chance Chisholm, Ashley Chisholm, and Maggie Chisholm. She is survived by her sister in law, Lorane Damele and brother in law George Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Boero and Dolores Armstrong and brother in law George Boero.
She graduated from Oakland Tech High School, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco School of Nursing. She worked as a Red Cross visiting nurse and later at Children s Hospital in the burn unit.
Norma was very active with Soroptomist of Amador and American Cancer Society of Jackson (now Amador STARS). She loved to garden, snow ski (attending Squaw Valley Olympics in 1960), hiking and camping, and white water rafting until age 89.
Her most important loves were her husband, her family and countless friends. She will always be remembered for her constant smile positive attitude, sense of humor, and the love of life she shared so freely. It is easy to see why her family called her Buzzy .
