I have visited your website and found it very interesting to say the least.  The names revolving around Martin Seeley are familiar to me.  Elam White, for instance, was the gentleman who along with Martin's brother Samuel were "guaranteers" of sorts for Martin Seley's marriage bond to Irene Cummings in the year 1840.  And yes, the name Outwaters is in my family file.  Henry Seley, (who I believe to be Martin's brother) married a Louisa Outwaters in 1831 approx.(now this date could well be wrong, simply by the dates of birth for their children.  I have run into a lot of "transcribing errors" with records both online and on reels).  Now Martin, (I do not know if it was Martin Sr or Martin Jr.) was a witness at a marriage of Henry and Louisa Seley's son, Henry Belyst Seely to Elizabeth Jane Parks.  Record goes as such:

Like I had written earlier, we have very little information on Martin, Samuel, Henry and Levi's family.  What we have been able to determine from mainly census documents, is that they were all born in "Upper Canada." 

As to the time frame of your g-grandfathers visit to Belleville Ontario, it would be safe to say, the Martin Seeley that William referred to is Martin Sr, as most of the children are still at home as of the 1871 census with the exception of George, Ann and Samuel Seley the oldest siblings of the family.  "Mart" I would assume is actually Martin Seeley Jr. born 1855 and still at home in the year 1871.  He married a Jessie Bates probably around 1880, going by the birthdate of child.  I have been able to find only one child so far, Charles Seeley born 22 March 1882, but have a reference to an Elpha Seeley born at the exact same time, twins? I do not know.   The Charles Seeley mentioned is obviously a son of Henry and Louisa Seley.  I have a cemetery record for him but had not been able to connect him to the family, until now.  Charles was born approx 1841 and Henry Jr. born approx 1843.  Charles Seley died February 6, 1875 at the age of 34.  He is buried at the Parks (Bygott) Cemetery located in the county of Lennox in N. Fredericks township on Conc 4 Lot 7.  There are no other names on this stone or plot. 

It is interesting to note that, your g-grandfather only refers to Henry Seley as Uncle and not Martin Seley.  This could mean that Henry and Martin are not brothers (this was only an assumption on my part) but cousins and your g-grandfather's father's mother Mary Ann would be the sister to Henry.  Further documents are needed to determine the exact family connection here.  First, do I have this right?  Thomas Douglass + Mary Ann Seeley possibily had child William Henry Douglass who married Sarah Jane Jones and had William Douglass, author of diary entries? Or do you think the Seeley connection is through the Jones side somehow?

And this is where my cousin and I have hit the dreaded "roadblock."  We have not been able to find "early Ontario BMD" records for the Seeley's of Hastings County.  I had only just recently found the marriage bond for Martin and Irene, but have not been able to find any birth records of their children.  Early records are very difficult to view with many of them being of "poor quality" or badly disorganized. I do know that Martin's brother Samuel died a single man (census documents)  and his other brother Levi actually married "back into" the Cummings family by marrying Irene's mother Abigail (she is approx 10 years older than Levi).  But absolutely nothing on where this family came from otherthan what was indicated on various censuses with birth place as "Upper Canada."  

I have not found Jones or Douglass in any of the lines I have been able to research.  Interestingly enough though, I have an Agriculture census document showing a Thomas Douglass owning property in Concession 1 Part of lot 8 in Rawdon Hastings County, where most of the Seley/Seeley men can be found.  My line of Martin/Samuel Seley can be found living in Rawdon Hastings county between the years 1861-1881 with some of Martin's children moving to Sydney or Stirling in 1891.  

But anyways, the following is what I have with dates, so maybe the line with Martin's granddaughter Borden? which ties into a Douglass line can be determined from these.  I would be very interested to see the line of Martin Seeley's granddaughter Sarah Borden.  This child's mother maybe a sibiling my cousin and I have missed.  Or is this child the granddaughter of Martin Jr.? in which case, we have not discovered all of their offspring yet.
